David Polos, 51, and Glen Glover, 45, have each been charged for making false statements and are facing up to five years in prison. Polos is a retired agent of the Drug Enforcement Administration, and Glover is a DEA Information Technology Specialist. They own stakes in the Twins Plus Go-Go Lounge in Hackensack, New Jersey, which they failed to account for when they filled out their 2011 national security clearance paperwork.
In addition to lying about ownership, Polos and Glover also knowingly hired illegal immigrants, and condoned prostitution in the clubs lap dance room. Most of the illegal immigrants were from Brazil and Russia. One dancer told investigators Polos and Glover allowed her to work a double shifts in order to pay back her smugglers who took her from Brazil into the U.S.
Polos resigned from the agency after 20 years of work, and Glover has been put on administrative leave.
In order to buy the strip club, Glover and fellow investors created a bank account labeled SA&G, which contained more than $600,000 in cash deposits.
Glover and Polos were regularly at the club as workers, and made no attempt to conceal the fact they were part of law enforcement. In fact, Polos wore his badge visibly whenever at the club, and Glover wore a bullet-proof vest to the club at least one time. In one instance, Polos lifted up his leg to point to his gun, and said “This is the boss. I am a boss” in response to an argument.
The scandal is yet another example of immigrant exploitation, much like the recent NYC nail salon scandal. Yes Polos and Glover are providing work for desperate women. If they really wanted to help them though, they would provide them with benefits, hourly wage plus tips, and resources for illegal immigrants.
Both agent’s lawyers maintain their innocence, and state they look forward to their exoneration.
